ASI Financial Services (‘ASI’) is extremely proud to announce that we have recently achieved a Level 2 Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment (B-BBEE) Contributor Status for 2013. This is an improvement on our Level 3 rating the year before in terms of the Department of Trade and Industry (‘DTI’) codes. In 2012 the new DTI targets for employment equity and preferential procurement came into effect – ASI’s B-BBEE performance is achieved against these increased targets.

ASI is a proudly South African company – one of the few majority black-owned and run independent employee benefit consulting companies in South Africa. “I am proud to say that this important achievement underpins ASI’s commitment to transformation, which is one of our key strategic pillars. This improvement is a significant milestone for our business, and as a ‘thought leader’ in our industry we will continue to transform our industry in the true sense of empowerment and drive change,” commented, CEO, Anthony Govender.

With the gazetting of the Financial Sector Charter (FSC) in November 2012, ASI is set to measure its performance against the FSC Scorecard, which will also include targets for access to financial services and empowerment financing. We believe that these are important pillars in the transformation process, as the financial services industry is expected to make a meaningful difference in ensuring the majority of our population can participate in the economy and in making use of the savings of our consumers to build a sustainable future for our nation.

“The sustainability of our business depends on equitable socio-economic development and equal opportunities for all South Africans. The B-BBEE codes and the FSC are frameworks by which we can collectively achieve this. ASI will continue to work hard towards our primary purpose and goal, to make a difference to our clients, our industry and to our country,” concluded Anthony.
